In October 2018, the Geospatial and Virtual Archaeology Laboratory (GVALS) was established at Indiana State University. This lab is focused on teaching and research pertaining to the production and analysis of digital 3D reconstructions of objects, architecture, and landscapes. In the lab, researchers and students work with geospatial and 3D imaging technologies to document the world in three dimensions. Students are largely trained how to carry out structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetric methods of datacapture, processing, and analysis.
